Overview

Young-Onset of Colorectal Cancer is defined as colorectal cancer diagnosed at or under age 50 and is being increasingly diagnosed in the United States and across the globe. The University of Texas MD Anderson Young-Onset Colorectal Cancer (YOCRC) Program has its mission to offer the best integrated care for YOCRC across the cancer spectrum, including diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and prevention. We have organized this YOCRC Virtual Patient Conference to bring together YOCRC patients, survivors and caregivers from Texas, across the nation and internationally. The participants will advance their understanding of YOCRC, its genetics and non-genetic risk factors, stage-specific treatments, as well as the multi-dimensional impact of living with YOCRC. Participants will network with leading clinicians, researchers, patient advocates, and most importantly, each other. The conference is dedicated to educating and empowering YOCRC patients, with the message that we are with you every step of the way. 

The primary target audience includes YOCRC patients, families and caregivers, while the entire colorectal cancer community is invited to tune into this virtual conference.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Recognize both genetic and non-genetic risk factors associated with young-onset colorectal cancer and ongoing research in this field
  2. Learn updated knowledge regarding multidisciplinary oncologic treatments for young-onset colorectal cancer.
  3. Recognize the psychosocial implications of being diagnosed with young-onset colorectal cancer for both the patient and family, and to describe supportive services and resources available; and
  4. Provide an opportunity for patients to network with each other and with healthcare providers and to enhance support by building a patient community.

Refund/Cancellation Policy
The registration fee, minus a $10 administrative handling fee, is refundable if a written request is received on or before May 6, 2023.  No refunds will be granted after this date. The request for a registration refund must include the tax identification number of the company or institution if registration was paid by a company or institution check. 

The Department of Continuing Professional Education (CPE), reserves the right to cancel activities prior to the scheduled date, if low enrollment or other circumstances make it necessary. Each registrant will be notified by mail, e-mail, or at the phone or fax numbers given on the registration form.  In case of activity cancellation, the liability of the CPE is limited to the registration fee. CPE will refund the full registration fee. 

CPE reserves the right to limit the number of participants in an activity and is not responsible for any expenses incurred by an individual whose registration is not confirmed and for whom space is not available.
