Overview
The training will provide communication strategies to healthcare professionals to learn and apply plain language techniques to improve patient understanding. This will reduce miscommunications between providers and patients and promote patient safety, trust, and satisfaction.

ACCME Objectives
  1. Interpret the different domains of health literacy: reading, writing, speaking, listening, numeracy.
  2. Practice a clear health care communication using Plain Language with minimal Jargon.

ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Healthcare professionals will apply one principle of plain language in a case-based discussion that demonstrates increased health literacy knowledge and/or skill.
