Telehealth for Oncology Nurses: Symptom Management Focus

The ambulatory nurse will utilize Nurse Practice/BNE standards, AAACN, and Oncology Nursing Society standards of professional practice, and MDACC policies in telehealth management including methods to paraphrase and respond to difficult conversations, recognize medical emergencies and respond to symptom management calls in practice. This includes nursing assessment and documentation, emergency care, and symptom management calls in practice. This will enhance communication with Physicians and Advanced Practice providers to assure safe patient care.

1. Apply MDACC policies, AAACN, and ONS standards of professional telehealth practice.
2. Articulate one new method to paraphrase and respond to difficult conversations, recognize emergencies, and respond to telehealth patient care needs.

This live activity contains pre-reading. Learners will receive an email with an assignment from the e-book: TELEPHONE TRIAGE FOR ONCOLOGY NURSES.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION:

• Create an account in the Professional Education Portal (PEP) and save your Mobile Number to your PEP account if not already done.

• Complete a participant evaluation in PEP, under the MyCE tab, within 7 consecutive days of the learning activity where you will also have immediate access to your Certificate.
