Overview
In module 7 of the activity series, Fundamentals of Radiation Oncology (FORO), the learners will be able to describe the disease-site specific management of cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy. The disease-site specific videos within this series may be viewed in any order. This activity provides an overview of breast cancer treatment with radiation therapy. Standard radiation treatments, common side effects, preventative care, toxicity management, patient education, and case scenario will be discussed. *Note to learner: Disease-site specific modules of the FORO series may be taken in any order

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Discuss the role of radiation in breast cancer, including the different types of radiation utilized based on staging and other risk factors.
  2. Describe prevention and treatment strategies to manage radiation therapy side effects.
  3. Summarize patient education recommended for patients undergoing radiation therapy for breast cancer.

Fundamentals of Radiation Oncology (FORO) Module 7: Breast Cancer

To successfully complete this activity and be awarded Nursing Contact Hours, the following must be met:

  • Complete the Pre-Test
  • View the presentation in its entirety
  • Complete the Post-Test
  • Complete and submit the CE Evaluation

Upon completion of the post-test and activity evaluation, return to Evaluations and Certificates (in MyCE) and download your certificate. In order to receive Nursing Contact Hours, you must pass the post-test with a score of 70% or higher.
