Overview
Achieving adequate glycemic control in patients, both with and without diabetes, is a crucial component of comprehensive cancer care. This educational module aims to introduce basal-bolus insulin (BBI) therapy as the standard treatment for inpatient hyperglycemia. The module covers the essential principles of BBI therapy, including its components, the benefits of BBI over sliding scale insulin (SSI), and collaborative care strategies for managing hyperglycemia in hospitalized patients.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify the advantages of basal-bolus insulin therapy over sliding scale insulin.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing the insulin decision support tool.
