This activity will offer safe and appropriate use of opioids for cancer pain, which is of utmost importance in view of the national opioid crisis. Clinicians are required to act as gatekeepers by mitigating the potential harms associated with inappropriate opioid use while ensuring their rational and effective use in the treatment of cancer pain. This is possible when they utilize opportunities to enhance their knowledge and competencies in the use of opioids. This Pain and Opioid enduring material seek to provide healthcare providers the unique opportunity to achieve such competencies in their careers.

The Professional Education Committee would like to acknowledge support from the Activity Directors and Planning Committee Members of the 5th Interdisciplinary Pain and Opioid Seminar for making this content available online.
