The goal of the conference is to further engage the perioperative faculty and staff in health care disparities and the role we play in recognizing and decreasing healthcare disparities in cancer care. Furthermore, we hope to outline a path forward for healthcare professionals as they increase their awareness of health care disparities and the opportunities available to engage in reduction of healthcare disparities.

1. Identify and address existing DEI knowledge gaps in the workplace/practice.
2. Develop best practices in professionalism and wellness for healthcare professionals.
3. Promote a multidisciplinary approach to addressing and mitigating healthcare disparities.

1. Articulate the multidisciplinary steps to addressing and mitigating healthcare disparities in cancer patients.
2. Translate effective communication techniques to use during difficult conversations with patients and families.

Registration Information

The conference will be in a hybrid format.  The in-person conference registration will be held at the Duncan Building (CPB) located at 1155 Pressler Street, Houston, Texas 77030 on Floor 8 and will begin at 8:00 am on Thursday, November 17.  A separate area will be set up for speaker check-in.  The conference will be streamed live via Zoom.

In-person registration space is limited.  Maximum registration is 70 attendees.

Advanced registration is encouraged.

Telephone registrations will not be accepted.

When registering online a receipt (confirmation letter) will be automatically emailed to the e-mail address you list on the registration form.  Once your registration has been completed, a receipt can be found in the MyCE tab of your PEP@MD Anderson account. 

Cancellation Policy

The Department of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) reserves the right to cancel activities prior to the scheduled date, if low enrollment or other circumstances make it necessary.  Each registrant will be notified by mail, e-mail, or at the phone or fax numbers given on the registration form.  In case of activity cancellation, the liability of the Department of Continuing Professional Education is limited to the registration fee.  Continuing Professional Education will refund the full registration fee. 

The Department of Continuing Professional Education reserves the right to limit the number of participants in a program and is not responsible for any expenses incurred by an individual whose registration is not confirmed and for whom space is not available.

NURSING
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is accredited with distinction as provider of Nursing Continuing Professional Development by The American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center designates this live course will award 5.33 Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) contact hours.

Nursing Certificates will be provided ONLY to participants who complete the online evaluation within the 30 days of the end of the conference.
