Overview
There is a growing emphasis on integrating patient-reported outcomes (PROs) into routine oncology care to enhance symptom management, patient-provider communication, and clinical decision-making. However, many healthcare professionals lack skills to implement electronic PRO (ePRO) systems within electronic health records (EHRs), particularly using frameworks like RE-AIM. This activity addresses the gap in knowledge and skills needed to design, implement, and sustain ePRO infrastructures in clinical practice.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the clinical value and implementation challenges of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in oncology care.
  2. Explain the RE-AIM framework and its application in evaluating ePRO implementation.
  3. Identify key components of an EHR-integrated ePRO infrastructure, including patient and staff-facing tools.
  4. Analyze strategies for improving ePRO compliance and integrating ePRO data into clinical workflows.
  5. Apply principles of formative evaluation to adapt and sustain ePRO programs in diverse clinical settings.
