Overview

Join us for the MD Anderson Nutrition Symposium.  This unique symposium brings together leading experts in oncology, nutrition science, and clinical care to explore the critical role that nutrition plays in enhancing patient outcomes. This symposium is ideal for healthcare providers to deepen their understanding of the impacts of clinical nutrition on patient care.  We will have sessions that will have emphasis on the oncology population.


Registration

The symposium will be held in person at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Mid Campus Building 1 (1MC), 7007 Bertner Ave., Houston, TX 77030, Floor 3 Conference Center, in Rooms 1, 2, 7, & 8. No on-site registration will be available. Final registration closes on June 5, 2025.

Featured Sessions & Expert Presenters

  • Dr. Nico Nortjé will explore the complex intersection of ethics and nutrition in end-of-life care, providing thoughtful insight into patient-centered decision-making and compassionate nutritional support during advanced illness.

  • Dr. Swaminathan Iyer and Jessica Tilton, RD will present on CAR-T therapy and nutrition, examining metabolic challenges, treatment-related toxicities, and evidence-based nutritional interventions to support patients undergoing advanced immunotherapies.

  • Dr. Jason Willis will review emerging data on GLP-based therapies and their nutritional implications, highlighting considerations for patient management, side-effect mitigation, and clinical practice integration.

  • The Nutrition Side Effect Management Panel, featuring Cassie Monard, RD; Grace Whitmer, RD; Christine Siebel, RD; and Natalie Carmouche, RD, will provide practical strategies for managing common and complex nutrition-related side effects across oncology populations, emphasizing real-world clinical application.

  • The Enteral Nutrition and DME Panel, featuring Caroline Secor, RD; Leslie Gauthier, RD; and Timothy Coleman, RD, will focus on enteral nutrition support and durable medical equipment (DME), offering guidance on product selection, coordination of care, and optimizing patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care from inpatient to outpatient settings.

  • Alicia Gilmore, Dietetic Internship Director, will present on all things malnutrition as well as cachexia in cancer care.

When registering online a receipt (confirmation letter) will be automatically emailed to the e-mail address you list on the registration form.  Once your payment has been made, a receipt can be found in the MyCE tab of your PEP@MD Anderson account. 

Refund/Cancellation Policy
The registration fee, minus a $25.00 administration-handling fee, is refundable if a written request is received on or before Tuesday, May 12, 2026.  No refunds will be granted after these dates. The request for a registration refund must include the tax identification number of the company or institution if registration was paid by a company or institution check. 

The Department of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) reserves the right to cancel activities prior to the scheduled date, if low enrollment or other circumstances make it necessary.  Each registrant will be notified by mail, e-mail, or at the phone or fax numbers given on the registration form.  In case of activity cancellation, the liability of the Department of Continuing Professional Education, is limited to the registration fee. CPE will refund the full registration fee.

The Department of Continuing Professional Education, reserves the right to limit the number of participants in a program and is not responsible for any expenses incurred by an individual whose registration is not confirmed and for whom space is not available.

Parking Information/Directions
Direct access garage parking is available for an hourly fee. The parking garage MGA (Mid Campus Garage A) is directly adjacent to the building. For visitor parking enter in the lane designated for visitors. Take a ticket as you enter the garage. After you park your car, take the Garage Elevator to level 5.  Next you will need to check in with Security. You will see their desk to the right as you enter the third floor. Walk across the sky bridge which brings you to level 3 of the 1MC Building.   (The Conference Center is on this same floor). Walk to the Conference Center which is on the north end of 1MC Level 3. The meeting rooms are 1, 2, 7 and 8.
