Overview
This activity equips healthcare professionals with essential skills to deliver compassionate, high-quality palliative and end-of-live care. Professionals will strengthen communication strategies for engaging patients with advanced cancer or debilitating disease, explore common moral and ethical challenges in palliative are, and apply supportive approaches that promote patient-centered well-being. This activity also highlights innovative pain and symptom management techniques and introduces evidence-based approaches reflecting the latest advancements in palliative and supportive care, empowering professionals to improve comfort, dignity, and quality of live for patients and families.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Cultivate proficient communication skills with patients in advanced stages of cancer or debilitating disease to deliver high-quality end-of-life care.
  2. Recognize moral and ethical dilemmas encountered in palliative care and integrate supportive care strategies to enhance patient well-being.
  3. Incorporate cutting-edge pain and symptom management strategies for individuals with advanced diseases.
  4. Implement principles of palliative care in the context of life-threatening diseases.
  5. Express two optimal approaches encompassing the most recent advancements in palliative and supportive care.

These Virtual education activities offer Pain Management Credits which may be used to fulfill the new DEA Education Requirements.

29th Supportive and Palliative Care Clinical and Research Symposium - September 18-19, 2026

A Live Virtual Streaming Course 

The Palliative Symposium will begin at 8:00 am (CST) on Friday, September 18 and will adjourn at 4:45 pm (CST) on Saturday, September 19. Location: Virtual (NOTE: All time is Central Standard Time (CST). 

The Symposium registration fee includes tuition for the Live Virtual Streaming Event and online materials.  Registration for the Updates in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and Intensive Physician Board Review Course is NOT included.

Refund/Cancellation Policy
The registration fee, minus a $50 administration-handling fee, is refundable if a written request is received on or before August 16, 2026 for both activities. No refunds will be granted after these dates. The request for a registration refund must include the tax identification number of the company or institution if registration was paid by a company or institution check. 

The Department of Continuing Professional Education (CPE), reserves the right to cancel activities prior to the scheduled date, if low enrollment or other circumstances make it necessary. Each registrant will be notified by mail, e-mail, or at the phone or fax numbers given on the registration form.  In case of activity cancellation, the liability of the CPE is limited to the registration fee. CPE will refund the full registration fee.
