Overview
Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) remain a major challenge in hematologic oncology, with effective treatment hinging on deeper insights into stem cell biology under both normal and stress conditions. The upcoming MDS symposium will bring together international experts in hematopoiesis and MDS to exchange knowledge, spark new ideas, and accelerate progress in molecular research and therapeutic innovation. By fostering collaboration across disciplines, this event aims to advance our understanding of MDS and improve care for patients affected by this complex disease.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Examine the cellular and molecular processes that regulate hematopoietic stem cell function under normal and stress-induced conditions, and their role in the development of Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS).
  2. Assess both established and novel therapeutic approaches for MDS in light of recent advances in hematopoietic stem cell biology.
  3. Utilize current insights into MDS pathobiology to interpret diagnostic data and evaluate prognostic indicators, including molecular profiles, to enhance clinical decision-making and patient care.
  4. Apply emerging insights from international experts in stem cell biology and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) to enhance interdisciplinary collaboration, inform strategic clinical research initiatives, and drive innovation in therapeutic approaches aimed at improving patient outcomes in hematologic oncology.

Registration

On-site registration for the 2026 Hematopoietic Stem Cell and Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) Symposium, will open at 7:00 AM on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at the Onstead Auditorium located in the Mitchell Building (BSRB) Floor 3, 6767 Bertner Avenue.
