Overview

This Symposium is targeted to inter-professional healthcare providers working with Clinical Cancer Genetics. The event will give attendees the awareness of cancer treatment options and appropriate referrals tailored to genetic testing results. This activity aims to close the gap in knowledge regarding management for patients with certain genetic dispositions.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

Implement guidelines to assess and screen high-risk patients in daily practice.
Recognize and document key features associated with potential hereditary cancer predispositions to refer at-risk patients for genetic cancer risk assessment
Examine the psychosocial and medical impacts of genetic testing results on the patient with respect to both current and long-term management
Differentiate the utility of various genetic testing modalities commonly used in oncology risk assessment and patient care
Indicate and implement personalized medicine approaches including surgical interventions, screening protocols, and systemic therapies appropriate for specific hereditary cancer predisposition syndromes/genes

Registration

A Hybrid Conference
The 8^th Annual Hereditary Cancer Symposium will be held as a hybrid conference. The conference in-person registration will be held at the Duncan Building (CPB) Conference Center, Floor 8 located at 1155 Pressler Street, Houston, Texas 77030. Registration and Continental breakfast opens at 7:00 AM and the Welcome and Introduction will begin at 8:00 AM on Friday, April 4, 2025 and will adjourn at 11:15 AM on Saturday, April 5, 2025. The Zoom information and all other necessary links will be emailed out the week of the conference.

The welcome reception is scheduled for Friday, April 4, 2025 at 4:30 pm immediately after the conference adjourns. hors d’oeuvres and beer/wine bar will be served.

Call for Cases:
As part of our efforts to foster a collaborative and insightful discussion, we are inviting attendees to submit cases for review by our expert panel during the symposium. We are seeking cases that highlight complex or intriguing hereditary cancer scenarios, including but not limited to:

Rare or challenging diagnoses
Unique genetic patterns
Clinical management complexities
Cases that prompt new insights or questions in hereditary cancer research

If you have a case that fits this description and would like to have it reviewed and discussed by our panel of experts, we kindly ask that you submit a brief summary of the case, including relevant clinical and genetic details, by March 1st.

Relevant clinical and genetic data (including family history, testing results, etc.)
Any specific areas you'd like the panel to focus on
Optional: Images, charts, or other supporting documents (please attach as files)

When registering online a receipt (confirmation letter) will be automatically emailed to the e-mail address you list on the registration form. Once your payment has been made, a receipt can be found in the MyCE tab of your PEP@MD Anderson account.

Evaluation
A course evaluation tool will provide participants with the opportunity to comment on the value of the program content to their practice decisions, performance improvement activities, or possible impact on patient health status. Participants will also have the opportunity to comment on any perceived commercial bias in the presentations as well as to identify future educational topics. The survey link will be provided during the review course.

Refund/Cancellation Policy

The registration fee, minus a $50.00 administration-handling fee, is refundable if a written request is received on or before Friday, March 14, 2025. No refunds will be granted after these dates. The request for a registration refund must include the tax identification number of the company or institution if registration was paid by a company or institution check.

The Department of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) reserves the right to cancel activities prior to the scheduled date, if low enrollment or other circumstances make it necessary. Each registrant will be notified by mail, e-mail, or at the phone or fax numbers given on the registration form. In case of activity cancellation, the liability of the Department of Continuing Professional Education is limited to the registration fee. CPE will refund the full registration fee.

The Department of Continuing Professional Education reserves the right to limit the number of participants in a program and is not responsible for any expenses incurred by an individual whose registration is not confirmed and for whom space is not available.
