Overview
MD Anderson is one of 25 sites accredited by the Council for Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (CTTTP) to provide a five-day class for individuals interested in becoming credentialed as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS). The program offers the highest quality tobacco treatment training, based on the most up to date evidence in tobacco cessation research and treatment strategies.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Implement best practice patient screening and care procedures
  2. Demonstrate understanding of best practices and complications related to tobacco cessation
  3. Identify multiple treatment plans, techniques and available resources to offer as patient care
  4. Provide patient education on new and emerging tobacco products
  5. Evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment being offered

Registration

Virtual Conference opens at 7:45 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023 at and will adjourn at 5:00 pm on Friday, January 13, 2023.   You will receive instructions for the Virtual program via email 3-5 days prior to the conference.  The only requirement for the online training is that you must have a laptop/desktop computer, webcam and access to stable internet connection.

REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY: The registration fee, minus a $100 administrative handling fee, is refundable if a written request is received on or before December 30, 2022.  No refunds will be granted after that date.  The request for a registration refund must include the tax identification number of the company or institution if registration was paid by a company or institution check.  For additional information, contact Continuing Professional Education at 713-792-2223 or toll free at 866-849-5866 or email [email protected].

The Department of Continuing Professional Education reserves the right to cancel activities prior to the scheduled date if low enrollment or other circumstances make it necessary.  Each registrant will be notified by mail, email or at the phone or fax numbers given on the registration form. In case of activity cancellation, the liability of the Department of Continuing Professional Education is limited to the registration fee.  Continuing Professional Education will refund the full registration fee. Accreditation/Credit Designation:
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 31.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Ethics
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ in medical ethics and/or professional responsibility. 

 

NCHEC Certificates 
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is also accredited by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. to provide continuing Health Education contact hours for eligible providers.  This program is designated for the CHES and MCHES to receive 16 Category I continuing education contact hours. Maximum advanced-level CECH available is 11.  Total contact hours is 28. Counseling Skills—5 advanced level credits align with Sub-Competency 6.2

CEU Certificates
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Certified Tobacco Treatment Training Program is also pleased to report that it is approved through the University Of Houston Graduate College of Social Work to provide CEU’s for this training for eligible providers.
Social Work CEUs are approved for up to a maximum of 30.0 CEUs for the 4-day training series based on sign in and sign out times each day.  Social Work CEUs are approved for LMSW and LCSW credentialed professionals, and with their licensing board approval, LPC and LMFT professionals.

 

CME, NCHEC and CEU Certificates and Attendance Verification Certificates
 
To obtain a CME certificate, providers must complete the evaluation questionnaire via PEP. A record of CME and attendance (certificate) will also be provided via PEP. Certificates awarding NCHEC eligible providers will be distributed to participants within 30 days of the training.  To obtain a CEU certificate, providers must submit a completed evaluation questionnaire and sign-in form each day to verify attendance.
