Overview
On the day of the course geared to, General Surgeons, Surgical Oncologists and Surgical Trainees who are willing to expand practice to include oncologic robotic gastrectomy and D2 lymph node dissection; we will start with didactic lectures of topics covering from evidence-based D2 lymph node dissection to step-by-step robotic gastrectomy techniques provided by esteemed international faculty members. Then we will hold a surgical cadaver labs for participating surgeons, using up-to-date Intuitive Surgical DaVinci Robotic Surgical Platform (Xi system). We expect that each participating surgeon will have abundant hands-on console time during this course, by limiting number of participants (maximum three for each cadaver/robotic surgical system).

In addition to being the FIRST robotic gastrectomy program to be held in the United States, this will be the first robotic gastrectomy program to use peer-based coaching to facilitate learning and improve collaboration amongst international surgeons. We hope you will join us in this exciting program with our overall goal to improve gastric cancer care, globally.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Learn anatomy, definition, and evidence of D2 lymph node dissection for gastric cancer;
  2. Learn effective tricks to overcome challenges during robotic gastrectomy;
  3. Gain skills to perform robotic total and distal gastrectomy, and various reconstruction techniques.
