Overview
The MD Anderson Cancer Network Nursing Education Series is designed for oncology nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Network Partner and Certified Member sites and provides evidence-based oncology content. This learning activity will include information on a quality improvement project designed to reduce infusion pump alarm fatigue related to air-in-line alarms caused by intravenous etoposide. Negative outcomes of frequent air-in-line alarms will be discussed, as well as national patient safety guidelines related to clinical alarm management. The importance of evidence-based practice as well as a patient-centered approach to identifying solutions will be emphasized. ANCC Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. 80% of the learners will articulate increased knowledge of an evidence-based quality improvement approach to reduce infusion alarm fatigue in an inpatient oncology unit.

To receive 0.75 contact hours for this activity, the participant must:

  • Create an account in the Professional Education Portal (PEP) and save your Mobile Number to your PEP account if not already done.
  • Register for this activity.
  • During activity, TEXT your attendance to 1-844-912-1333 up to 2hrs after the course has ended using the Activity ID provided by the Facilitator during program.
  • Complete a participant evaluation in PEP, under the MyCE tab, within 7 consecutive days of the learning activity where you will also have immediate access to your Certificate.
