Overview
At the end of this presentation, the Registered Nurses who work with cancer patients will validate knowledge of oncology nursing by successfully passing the Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification exam. Day 2 will cover: Test taking strategies Question and answer discussion Bone and Soft Tissue Cancers, Skin Cancers Oncologic Emergencies Psychosocial Dimensions Survivorship Palliative Care, End-of-life and Comfort Measures Alterations in the following systems: - Hematologic and Immune - Musculoskeletal - Integumentary - Neurologic - Nutritional - Genitourinary - Respiratory - Cardiovascular - Gastrointestinal

ANCC Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Discuss the signs, diagnostic workup, and medical or surgical management of bone/soft tissue and skin cancers.
  2. Identify nursing assessment and intervention in the management of the alterations in hematologic and immune function, musculoskeletal, nutritional, and genitourinary function.
  3. Describe nursing interventions for alteration in respiratory, cardiovascular, and gastrointestinal function including comfort care.
  4. Identify the nursing role in the identification and management of metabolic and structural oncologic emeregencies in cancer patients.
  5. Describe the psychosocial, palliative, survivorship and end-of-care needs of cancer patients including patient education.
  6. Discuss the test taking strategies for OCN certification exam.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION:
