Overview
At the end of this presentation, the Registered Nurses who work with cancer patients will validate knowledge of oncology nursing by successfully passing the Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification exam. Day 1 will cover: Health Promotion, Cancer Prevention, Screening and Early Detection Nurse Navigation Scientific Basis for Practice Treatment Modalities Solid Tumors: Lung, Breast, Renal, Bladder, Prostate, Testicular, Penile, Cervical, Endometrial, Ovarian, Colorectal, Pancreatic, Esophageal, Gastric, Head and Neck Test Taking Strategies Questions and Answer Discussion

ANCC Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe health promotion and scientific basis for oncology nursing practice.
  2. Discuss treatment modalities for cancer, including radiation, chemotherapy, surgery, and stem cell transplant.
  3. Identify the signs and symptoms, diagnostic workup, and treatment modalities for solid tumor cancers such as breast, lung, gynecology and genitourinary.
  4. Describe the treatment modalities and nursing intervention for head and neck, neurological, and gastrointestinal cancers.
  5. Identify professional practice, legal and ethical considerations while taking care of cancer patients.
