Overview
This activity equips healthcare professionals with the latest updates and evidence-based approaches for managing infections and complications in patients undergoing immune effector cell (IEC) therapies, including CAR T-cell therapy. Emphasizing updates to MD Anderson Cancer Center’s algorithms for CAR T-cell management, the session provides current guidance on infection prophylaxis, monitoring, and survivorship care for IEC-treated patients.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify appropriate infection prophylaxis and duration for immune effector cell (IEC) therapies.
  2. Demonstrate the latest protocols on CAR T therapy, including optimal lines of therapy, unique toxicities, complication management, antimicrobial prophylaxis, and survivorship.
  3. Outline appropriate monitoring for IEC-related infections.
  4. Discuss late complications that long-term survivors of IEC therapies may experience.
