Overview
Cancer survivorship care encounters substantial challenges in managing the multifaceted outcomes of cancer and its treatment, while aiming to improve survivors' health and quality of life. Despite significant advancements in cancer treatment, there remains an urgent need for comprehensive, integrated programs that seamlessly combine patient care, research, prevention, and education. Many survivors endure long-term physical, emotional, and psychosocial effects that necessitate continuous attention and management. Healthcare systems frequently lack the infrastructure and resources required to deliver coordinated, multidisciplinary care that addresses the full spectrum of survivorship needs.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the impacts of cancer survival on adolescent and young adult cancer survivors, including physical, emotional, and social aspects.
  2. Assess the key considerations that physicians must take into account when providing survivorship care to adolescent and young adult cancer survivors.
  3. Identify the patients most at risk for prostate cancer, the standards for prostate cancer screening, and the recommended frequency of testing.
  4. Describe the symptoms and effects of CIPN on cancer survivors and outline best practices for treating and counseling these patients.
  5. Outline the use of integrative medicine in alleviating symptoms in cancer survivors and identify best practices for counseling patients about integrative medicine.

Registration

This activity is the Gold Certificate Program of the Cancer Survivorship Certification for Health Professionals. Available at no charge, you can apply your knowledge to case-based scenarios and explore more topics related to cancer survivorship, including management of adolescent and young adult survivors, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, prostate cancer screening and integrative medicine.
