Overview
This comprehensive educational activity aims to bridge the gap in sepsis prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for healthcare professionals in the oncology setting. This activity will also empower patients and their families with knowledge about sepsis, its early signs and symptoms, and the critical importance of seeking immediate medical attention.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the use of adaptive trials in sepsis.
  2. Explain the benefits of knowing the patient/family experience with sepsis.
  3. Summarize the new pediatric sepsis definitions.
  4. Describe the difficulties in infection control in sepsis
  5. Examine what a change management journey in sepsis can look like.
  6. Define what is important about post sepsis syndrome.
  7. Distinguish the role of AI in sepsis and what the future of personalized medicine can look like with the implementation of the right sepsis research trials.

Registration

This 1-day conference will include 11 diverse and relevant oncological sessions. The presentations will include didactic lectures and patient stories. Sepsis is associated with a staggering 11 million lives lost every year, worldwide. Vulnerable populations are the hardest hit, which include immunocompromised patients. We encourage you to share this conference with other colleagues inside and outside of MD Anderson.

A Hybrid Live Streaming Conference
The conference will begin on Thursday, September 12 at 8:00 a.m. at MD Anderson’s Onstead Auditorium (6767 Bertner Ave, Houston, TX 77030). For those who will be attending virtually, attendees will receive an email with webinar access credentials one day before the event. Please monitor your email inbox and spam folders.

Evaluation
An online course evaluation tool will provide participants with the opportunity to comment on the value of the program content to their practice decisions, performance improvement activities, or possible impact on patient health status. Participants will also have the opportunity to comment on any perceived commercial bias in the presentations as well as to identify future educational topics.

Parking Information and Directions
The Onstead Garage is located at 6767 Bertner Avenue, self-parking for the Onstead Auditorium is available in Garage 15 (John P McGovern Commons Garage) off of Bertner Avenue.  Payment for parking is completed at the kiosk located in the parking facility. Take the elevator to the first level and enter the Mitchell Building through the sliding glass doors. Onstead Auditorium is on the 3rd floor. You may take the staircase or elevator up to the 3rd floor.
