Overview
This Symposium is targeted to inter-professional healthcare providers working with Clinical Cancer Genetics. The event will give attendees the awareness of cancer treatment options and appropriate referrals tailored to genetic testing results.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Implement guidelines to assess and screen high-risk patients in daily practice.
  2. Recognize and document key features associated with potential hereditary cancer predispositions adequately to refer at risk patients for genetic cancer assessment.
  3. Develop surgical interventions, screening protocols, and systemic therapies appropriate for specific hereditary cancer predisposition syndrome/genes.
  4. Evaluate impact of genetic testing results on the patient psychosocially and medically for current and long-term management.
  5. Differentiate the utility of various genetic testing modalities commonly used related to oncology risk and care.

A Virtual Course
The 7th Annual Hereditary Cancer Symposium will be held as a virtual course.  It opens at 8:30 AM on Friday, April 5, 2024, and will adjourn at 12:00 PM on Saturday,  April 6, 2024.  The Zoom information and all other necessary links will be emailed out the week of the conference.

When registering online a receipt (confirmation letter) will be automatically emailed to the e-mail address you list on the registration form.  Once your payment has been made, a receipt can be found in the MyCE tab of your PEP@MD Anderson account. 

Evaluation
A course evaluation tool will provide participants with the opportunity to comment on the value of the program content to their practice decisions, performance improvement activities, or possible impact on patient health status. Participants will also have the opportunity to comment on any perceived commercial bias in the presentations as well as to identify future educational topics.  The survey link will be provided during the review course.

Refund/Cancellation Policy
The registration fee, minus a $50.00 administration-handling fee, is refundable if a written request is received on or before Friday, March 15, 2024.  No refunds will be granted after these dates. The request for a registration refund must include the tax identification number of the company or institution if registration was paid by a company or institution check.

The Department of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) reserves the right to cancel activities prior to the scheduled date, if low enrollment or other circumstances make it necessary.  Each registrant will be notified by mail, e-mail, or at the phone or fax numbers given on the registration form.  In case of activity cancellation, the liability of the Department of Continuing Professional Education is limited to the registration fee.  CPE will refund the full registration fee. 

The Department of Continuing Professional Education reserves the right to limit the number of participants in a program and is not responsible for any expenses incurred by an individual whose registration is not confirmed and for whom space is not available.

Credit Designation
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center designates this live activity will award 8.75 Nursing Contact Hours.

Nursing Certificates will be provided ONLY to participants who complete the online evaluation within the 30 days of the end of the conference.

Genetic Counselor Credit
This event will be submitted to the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) for approval of Category 1 CEUs. The American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) accepts CEUs approved by NSGC for purposes of recertification. Approval for the requested CEUs and Contact Hours is currently pending.
