Overview
This is a one day course. Oncologic Emergencies Across the Age Span will provide the nurse with knowledge related to emergency situations that are seen with the oncology patient; both pediatric and adult. Treatment & nursing care for these emergencies is also discussed. Among the topics to be discussed will include: Sepsis and Septic Shock, Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation, Spinal Cord Compression, Seizures, Cytokine Release Syndrome and Immune Effector Cell Associated Neurotoxicity Syndrome (ICANS).

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Discuss up-to-date practice and information related to the care of hematology/oncology/stem cell transplant patients in oncologic emergencies.
  2. Identify oncologic emergency prevention measures in oncology care settings.
  3. Incorporate management and coordination of cancer-related urgent and emergent care issues.
  4. Identify early signs of common oncologic emergencies.
  5. Apply important patient education points regarding oncologic emergencies.

Registration

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION:

To receive Nursing Contact Hours (6.50 hours); AAPA Category 1 CME (6.50 hours) for this activity, the participant must: 

•Create an account in the Professional Education Portal (PEP) and save your Mobile Number to your PEP account if not already done. 
•Register for this activity.
•During activity, TEXT your attendance to 1-844-912-1333 and up to 24 hrs after the course has ended using the Activity ID provided by the Facilitator during program.
•Complete a participant evaluation in PEP, under the MyCE tab, within 30 consecutive days of the learning activity where you will also have immediate access to your Certificate.
