Laurie Sturdevant, RN, CPHQ, OCN





Laurie Sturdevant serves as the Executive Director for Quality Programs for MD Anderson Physicians Network, part of the MD Anderson Cancer Network. Laurie has over 25 years of leadership experience in healthcare administration and healthcare quality, in practice environments that include for-profit, non-profit, academic medical centers, and community settings.  Her clinical experience includes inpatient and outpatient oncology, clinical trials, hospice, medical-surgical, and wound care.

Description automatically generatedLaurie began her career at MD Anderson as a Student Nurse Extern/Graduate Nurse and returned to MD Anderson when she joined the Quality Department of MD Anderson Physicians Network in 2005. Since that time she has led the development of assessment tools and processes that cover 6 medical specialties and 13 oncologic disease sites for the Certified Member Program. Today she leads quality teams dedicated to Clinical Due Diligence, Operations, and Nursing Education for Certified Members; MD Anderson Outreach/Houston Area Location Quality; Qualtrics Assessments; Cancer Network Partner Quality Programs & Informatics; and Discovery & Innovation.


Laurie’s professional interests include medical oncology, pain management, end of life care, and she is passionate about helping others to improve quality across the continuum of care. Her current projects include a pilot project on Intraprofessional Education, adopting the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) competency framework, and leading publications about the Physicians Network Quality Program.
