Bio Statement

Jessica A. Moore, DHCE, joined the faculty of the Department of Critical Care as a Clinical Ethicist in the Section of Integrated Ethics in Cancer Care at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in March 2009. Her career has been dedicated to clinical service in the healthcare setting including clinical/research ethics consultation, education, and policy development/review. Her patient care activities include weekly proactive rounds and patient care conferences (medical, multidisciplinary, and individual) in collaboration with multiple clinical departments as well as specifically requested patient-, issue-, or research-focused ethics consultations. As the Education Director for the Section, she is very involved in multiple educational programs at our institution. The Section of Integrated Ethics provides educational opportunities through internships, fellowships, continuing education for healthcare providers, and an online clinical ethics certificate. Dr. Moore serves on a number of institutional and external clinical, research, education, and organizational focused committees.

 

Research Interests

1)      Improved patient care through interdisciplinary models,

2)      The effects of age (at both ends of the spectrum), culture, and faith-tradition on medical decision-making, 

3)      Clinical decision-making with and for special populations, and

4)      The use of genetic information in clinical research and treatment.
