Holly West, DHEd, PA-C

Dr. Holly West is a Senior Medical Educator in the Office of Educational Development at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) School of Medicine where she focuses on curriculum development, learner assessment, and faculty development. As a trained Physician Assistant (PA), she holds an Adjunct Associate Professor position in the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) PA Program. Dr. West graduated from Texas A&M University, received a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from UTMB, and a doctoral degree in Health Education from A.T. Still University. She has served in leadership roles in the academic, clinical, and clinical research areas. Her teaching spans a diverse group of learners including medical and physician assistant students, residents, fellows, and faculty. Dr. West is a UT System Distinguished Teaching Professor, UT Shine Academy member, and a UTMB Academy of Master Teachers member and Team Lead. She has been honored with several teaching awards and endowments for both education and faculty development. She is involved in leadership positions at the local and state level and presents at the national and international level on faculty development initiatives including educator portfolios, mentoring, and peer observation of teaching, active teaching/learning, micro-lectures, and learner assessment.
